Lo4 D2

After listening to our radio programme I believe that it sounds similar to other real radio programmes. This is because of our inclusion of sound effects, jingles, music, and incision of our realistic improvised conversations between each other. The jingles that play after every transition sound very realistic and similar to products like BBC Fire in the booth and Capital XTRA which was our inspirations for our product.  We begin the programme with a jingle, that then continues into an introduction lead by the Host. In this he introduces both the Co Host and the guest, and explains what they will be talking about throughout the programme.  The strengths of the recording of our product were that we used the really easy to use Handy H6 recorder which allowed us to do multiple takes and easily transfer them into the Mac for editing. Also, by demo versions of the programme on our phones, we were able to learn how to improvise and carry conversations throughout the show. When editi...

Capital XTRA broadcasts their content live but like many radio stations, it uses a pre made line up of each song that will be played. This helps the host navigate the script better, so that they know when to start talking. Capital XTRA can be accessed via FM radio. However, it is mainly accessed on DAB and technology's like smart T Vs. Streaming their content via the CapitalFM website is the most accessible way to stream their content, as it  does not require expensive transmission equipment or broadcast licenses. Even with this, You will still need to obtain suitable music licensing for your web radio station.  Streamed web radio also has the potential to be the most accessible for your listeners as they can listen using computers, mobile devices, smart speakers etc.  You’ll need a licence from Ofcom for permission to broadcast on one of the 60 local multiplexes that are available in the UK. Multiplexes are local and only have a limited reach, so it may be...

How does your planned connect reflect the codes and conventions of a real programme? After analysing Capital XTRA, and their programmes. I understand that they use specific codes and conventions to produce a good radio programme. One example of this, would be the introduction, and jingles that play at the beginning of a radio show, or when introducing a new host. I utilised this specific convention in my radio programme and included a jingle and intro into our radio programme. The jingle we used was in the style of Hip-Hop, as our programme focused on interviewing a Rapper called 1Mawb. We have done this as too make the audience know that they are listening to a Hip-Hop radio station. As for the presentation style, it is very informal and targeted towards a younger demographic of teens and young adults. This is because our product is centered around young Hip Hop artists that are building and growing a fanbase, meaning we market mostly towards a younger target audience that would enjoy...

Lo4 Rushes of original audio: These two audio files are off our first attempt at recording our radio programme. They were both recorded on a phone and in these, we try to understand how to act and talk between each other in a natural way.  This was good practice for when we recorded our programme on actual recording devices which were the H6 Handy recorder. This tool was very easy to use and allowed us to make varied versions of our product and easily send them to ourselves. Lo4 Editing process: These screenshots show how we used Adobe audition to edit together our project. We mixed each audio clip individually to create a very balanced and clean project. Plus, to get rid of any unwanted sounds in the audio clip,  we used adobe auditions audio editor, this allowed us to highlight unwanted audio clips and lower the decibels of it. Which made certain sounds such as any background audio more quiet and made our speech more clear throughout. We also used audio transition effects an...

Lo3 Asset research

Image
These are some sound FX and sound assets that we have found using free sound.org. Later on, we can use sites such as looperman to help find assets for our jingle, as this websites features more music and instrumental loops that could help us when creating a specific loop for the jingle.  The song below is inspiration for what we want our jingle to be like. Its very Hip Hop oriented and the looping pianos and violins sound very interesting. I want our jingle to sound similar to this piece of work, utilising the looping patterns and instruments that are really Hip Hop orientated. For our radio programme we will use certain royalty free jingles found in this video on YouTube. Along with this, we will include background music that will play during certain sections of our programme, such as the interview or introduction.   This royalty free trailer music will be used for the 'persona' film advert that will play during the last third of the song.
